Plans for 2018 - 2019

The Youth Services Committee will attempt to involve as many young people and Club members as possible in Youth activities through the following events:

1.Young Chef

The Club Round will be held at WHS on Thursday 22nd Nov.2018

Possible Area round participation – to be discussed.

2.Young Musician Area Round

The Club/Area round will be held at WHS. Date confirmed Thurs. 31^st Jan.2018, WHS Dutch Barn.

3.YouthSpeaks

The Club Round to involve the English Departments of Whitchurch High School and Bro Eden.

Intermediate Competition: Date planned (Tuesday 15^th Jan.2019)

Senior Competition : Date Planned (Tuesday 22^th Jan.2019)

4.Young Interviewer - District

Single District final: Date Confirmed Friday March 15th 2019 to be Hosted by Howells school. One competitor from each of our 3 schools will take part.

5.Fitzalan feeder schools – Essay Competition

6.RYLA –Rotary Youth Leadership Award 2019

Club to financially support 3 candidates, one each from Howells, WHS and Cathedral schools. We will apply for any grants available to subsidise fees.

7.Interact

Continue to support and promote Howells, Whitchurch, and Cathedral Interact Clubs by involving them in our Club activities, and involving ourselves in theirs.

Interactors are welcome at any Breakfast Meeting but three meetings will be specifically planned as “Interact” breakfasts to which Interactors/staff from WHS, Howells, and Cathedral will be invited.

Planned dates are as follows:

Wednesday 19th September 2018 – RYLA report back

Wednesday 5^th December 2018 – Christmas/Rotakids

Wednesday 8th May 2019 – New Presidents/Paul Spencer Awards. Awarded annually, the Paul Spencer Memorial Award is given to the individual who has contributed most that year to the success of the Interact Clubs at Howells/ Whitchurch /Cathedral. Winners are chosen by school Interact Committees.

8.Whitchurch Primary school Annual Prizes

Award two prizes annually at the July leaving assembly to two individual pupils for “Effort” and "Achievement”.

9. Whitchurch Primary RotaKids

Continue to support Rotakids group established at WP. Three projects to be undertaken: Charity/Community/International.

Committee to be invited to Christmas (December 5^th) Interact Breakfast.

11.Fund Raising: Objective

Youth Services will organise (with Club help) two main fundraising events with the aim of raising a sum at least equal to what is spent annually on Youth Activities. Proposed for 2018/9:

Curry & Choir Evening. Monday 21^st Oct.2018

C&VY Orchestra Concert. Saturday 13^th April 2019. Thsi will be a concert with a combined CC&VYOand the Sydney Youth orchestra, in the Hoddinot Hall, Millenium Centre. Outside commercial sponsorship will be sought.

N.B : At this stage some dates are “planned dates” subject to confirmation with Schools & possible clashes with other planned RCCB events. All competitions have been scheduled to meet “normal” Area/District Final dates (2018/19 DistrictSchedule not yet available), and school holiday dates.
