Club members discuss club's programme

President Mairhi Trickett was in the chair at last week's meeting of the Rotary Club and had the pleasant task of inducting Linden Warburton as Vice-President of the club.
A business meeting followed when the finances were scrutinised for the past year.  It was reported that support had been given over a wide spectrum of charities and good causes including £1,500 to Selkirk Rotary Club's Philippines Project; £250 to the DEC Appeal for the Myanmar Disaster; £478 to send a student to the RYLA camp; £100 to Bikes4Africa; £328 to the BGH McMillan Centre Extension as well as donations locally to Hawick Dementia Cafe £100; Primary Schools Swimming Gala medals £110; £200 to speakers' charities and several other good causes.  A donation of £700 was made to the Rotary Project of End Polio Now.  £200 had been loaned through Lend with Care to a woman farmer in Vietnam for fertiliser for her farm and all previous loans through the scheme had been repaid by the recipients.
The coffee morning, postponed in May because of the Royal Wedding will now take place in Trinity Church Hall on Saturday, 11th August and a film night had been booked for 29th September.
