Young Enterprise Team 2017-18

The Young Enterprise team from Toot Hill School sixth-form college (they are the four in the middle!) visited to tell us about their experiences of setting up and running their own company.

They called the company Jar Emporium, and they sold Kilner-style jars full of sweets.  They sold their product not just to family and friends, but also to the public at various events.  At Bingham town fair, for example, we were pleased to share our stand with Jar Emporium.

These four young people didn’t make their fortunes from Jar Emporium, but they gained valuable experience that will be of practical use later in their business and professional lives.

Bingham & Radcliffe-on-Trent Rotary has supported YE for many years.  Rotarians act as mentors to the YE team, providing advice drawn from our own experiences.

Young Enterprise ( https://www.young-enterprise.org.uk/ )is the UK’s leading enterprise and financial education charity reaching over 250,000 young people every year.  YE makes the connection between school and the world of work, enabling young people to develop the knowledge and attitudes they need to succeed, building on 8 key skills:  Communication, Confidence, Financial Capability, Initiative, Organisation, Problem-solving, Teamwork and Resilience.
