April Events

Presentations were made to the winners of the Young Writers competition and the Community Salver was awarded to Alasdair and Pippa Swan for their services to Dunbar

The Young Writer Competition saw nineteen pupils from P5 taking part this year.  Their challenge was  to write approx 500 words on the  topic of “A different perspective”. The essays were of a very high quality throughout.   The judges, from Dunbar Writers Group, chose an entry  by Kyle McPherson entitled “A different match” as the winner. Certificates and gifts were awarded to all 19 pupils on 20 April at the Dunbar Primary School assembly.  The picture shows all 19 Young Writers, together with their teacher Suzanne Crosby and judge Francis Smith.  President Andrew Brown presented the awards.

Kyle's entry has also won the District Young Writer competition and he will now be entered for the National Round.

On Monday 23rd April, President Andrew presented the club's Community Salver to Alasdair and Pippa Swan for their services to the community of Dunbar.
