Minutes of the Meeting

Held on Thursday, March 28th 2019

                                             At The Golf Club, Chestfield

President-Elect-Elect:

As both Pat and Sue were away, President-Elect-Elect Ron took the meeting.

Car Parking:

The car parking in March raised almost £300.00 despite the miserable weather.    So far we have dates for car parking until May and Godfrey is waiting for dates from then to the end of the year.    It has been stressed by the organisers that the toilets are only for the use of those helping with car parking and that it is essential that the lower car park is monitored.    The school has experienced problems with children and everyone is asked to be vigilant.

Computer Projector and Stand:

As agreed the Club has purchased a new computer projector and stand and this is held by Robert S. together with the screen.

Dictionaries:

Andrew B. has made contact with Ben Cooper, Headmaster, Swalecliffe Primary and is in discussion with him over the future arrangements for dictionaries and will put any suggestions to the next Board Meeting.

Thursday, March 21st – Evening Dinner:

The evening dinner on Thursday, March 21st on March 21sr was a great success and Ron was thanked for his talk on the Great Deception.

Friday, March 22nd – Walk 4Water:

Andrew B. thanked everyone who had helped with Walk4Water with especial thanks to David M. for the organisation.   135 children took part at the University and other schools will be holding their own Walk4Water.    There will be a piece in the forthcoming Whitstable Gazette.

Friday, March 29th – Table Tennis Challenge Evening:

Dave C. reminded everyone who is going to the Table Tennis evening to wear trainers or flat shoes.

Sunday, April 7th – Chestfield Village Litter Pick:

Chestfield Parish Council are organizing a litter pick on Sunday, April 7th meeting on the Play Park on Chestfield Road at 10.30 am.    We should help the village where possible.    Please sign up if you can spare a couple of hours to help.   Promote the Club in Chestfield by wearing your Rotary clothing and hi-viz jackets.    The Parish Council will provide hi-viz jackets if you do not have them.

Sunday, April 14th – Car Parking at Whitstable and Stroke Awareness Day:

More volunteers are needed.    This will also be Stroke Awareness Day which will be held with car parking and Sue would grateful for help in taking blood pressures and it you can help please sign up on the car parking form using the initials ‘BP’.

Tuesday, April 23rd – Raid on RC Sandwich:

A raid has been organised on  RC Sandwich which meets for dinner at the Bell Hotel, Sandwih at 7.00 for 7.30 pm at a cost of £15.00 per head.       If we can get 16 or members Robert M. can organize a bus at an extra cost of £5.00.       There is a form in the folder so please make this a date in your diary and sign up.

Saturday, April 27th – TWAM Collection:

Please note that the times for the collection at Stocks, Cromwell Road, Whitstable are 9.00 am to 1.00 pm.    The number of volunteers should be

Thursday, May 9th – 15th Anniversary Dinner:

Names are urgently needed for members and guests who are coming to the 15th Anniversary Dinner so that invitations can be sent to other Clubs if there are places available.   Please sign up or let Godfrey know by next week.

Saturday, May 18th – Gardening at the Whitstable and Tankerton Hospital:

There will be gardening at the Whit and Tank on Saturday, May 18th meeting at the hospital at 9.30 am.    Please sign up if you can help.

Tuesday, May 28th - Lawn Bowls Taster Afternoon: 

There will be a second lawn bowls taster afternoon on May 28th.  There is a form in the folder.

Friday, June 7th to Sunday, June 9th – Visit from Apeldoorn:

At the moment Andrew B. is expecting twelve visitors from Apeldoorn.

Saturday, June 15th – Barn Dance:

So far 28 have signed up for the Barn Dance and there is a need to push the sale of tickets as strongly as possible.

Tuesday, July 9th - RC Herne Bay, Exhibition at the Seaside Museum, July 9th:

The Rotary Club of Herne Bay are holding an exhibition at the Seaside Museum and a private viewing will be held on July 9th for members of the Club and RC Herne Bay with a meal afterwards at the A La Turka Restaurant.    Details will be available shortly.
