Minutes of the Meeting

Held on Thursday, November 1st  2018

                                             At The Golf Club, Chestfield

Grace:

Pippa, Jenny and Reggie:

It was good to have Pippa, Jenny and Reggie back.

Lesley:

            A great welcome was extended to Lesley who was inducted into Rotary         this morning.  Andrew B. read the Objects of Rotary and the Four-way       Test.   Lesley was sponsored by Sue.

Raffle Prizes:

There is still an urgent need for good raffle prizes for the Quiz Night and volunteers are needed to canvas businesses in Whitstable, Tankerton and Herne Bay.

Crocus Corms:

The crocus corms are now available and need to be planted as soon as possible so please don't hang around if you want some.

Rotary Magazines:

The Club is provided with a supply of Rotary magazines sufficient for each member to have one.    When these are available, could everyone please take their copy and not leave it behind to be thrown away.

Rotary Charity Shops:

Ian has recently been in the West Country where two clubs have combined to run a charity shop which has raised £350,000 in the past eight years.

Saturday, October 13th, Car Parking at Whitstable:

This was another successful day which raised over £550.00..

Friday, October 26th, Demelza Pumpkin Hunt, Whitstable:

Sue and Ron provided help to Demelza for their Pumpkin Hunt.    The children had a great time.

Saturday, November 3rd, Gardening at the Whit and Tank:

Please sign up if you can help starting at 9.00 to 9.30 am.    The focus will be on cutting back and weeding.

Sunday, November 4th, Car Parking at Whitstable:

The next car parking at Whitstable will be on Sunday, November 4th and Godfrey would always welcome more help.

Thursday, November 8th, Armistice Dinner:

Next Thursday evening, November 8th, the Club is holding an Armistice Dinner at the Golf Club at 7.00 for 7.30 pm for which the dress code will be black tie or lounge suits.   The cost of the meal will be £25.00 per person not including drinks.    The menu will be vegetable soup followed by a roast beef and gammon carvery with bread and butter pudding and custard for dessert and tea or coffee.     A vegetarian option is available and if you or your guests would like this please liaise with Godfrey before Monday evening.    This will be a normal meeting of the Club and everyone is expected to attend unless apologies have been sent to Godfrey by Monday evening as usual.     Just a reminder to everyone that there will no breakfast meeting next week so anyone who turns up in the morning will be both lonely and hungry.

 Thursday, November 15th, Love in a Box (Shoeboxes):

Love in a Box (Shoeboxes) should be handed in by Thursday November 15th.

Friday, November 16th, Murder Mystery Evening, Kent College:

The Head Teacher will be murdered by Kent College Interact at a Murder Mystery Evening on Friday, November 16th in aid of projects in Tanzania.  Everyone is welcome and there is a form in the folder.   The cost will now be £10.00 per person but you will need to bring your own food and drinks.

Saturday, November 17th, Club Quiz Night:

This is now sold out.    If you are coming along, please remember to bring your own glasses on the evening.      More raffle prizes are urgently needed.

Pat brought greetings from Roland of RC Westerham and Edenbridge and Ian brought greetings from Roger of RC Barnstaple.

Raffle:

            Godfrey won a bottle of wine and Hilary a tin of biscuits.

Master of Alms:

Nick’s little car was on good form and he cannot be far off his target for the year.
