Mike Martineau, ADG:

Hilary reported that Mike Martineau ADG, who has been visiting Clubs in the District including Chestfield, described RC Chestfield as ‘a fabulous, vibrant Club’ which we all knew already of course.

Tankerton Circus Fair, Saturday, July 28th:

The Club participation in this event was primarily to promote Rotary and was generally a success.    One visitor to the table was Colin Spooner the current Lord Mayor of Canterbury who is interested in joining the Club once his time as Lord Mayor is up.

Cycle London in Aid of Teenage Cancer Trust, Sunday, July 29th:

Robert completed a very wet Cycle London, a 100 mile cycle ride in aid of the Teenage Cancer Trust on Sunday, July 29th.     He is hoping to raise £1,000 and would still welcome sponsors.

Herne and Broomfield Fun Day, Sunday, July 29th:

It was also raining in Herne which put the damper on Herne and Broomfield Fun Day.     Andrew B. thanked those who helped with the car parking.    He is hoping to find a volunteer to take on the organization next year.

Clay Pigeon Shooting, Sunday, August 5th:

Ron reminded everyone that the clay pigeon shooting will be at Greenfields Shooting Grounds on Sunday, August 5th meeting there at 9.00 am.     The shooting will be first followed by breakfast.    Ron has seven signed-up so and needs to be able to give the café an idea of numbers for breakfast so if you want to come along and have not signed up please let him know as soon as possible.

Whitstable Harbour Day, Saturday, August 11th:

More help is needed around the middle of the day which runs from 10.30 am to 5.00 pm.

Speaker, Zoe Hatton, Thursday, August 16th:

Zoe is a local Chestfield girl who will be talking about her school’s participation in the Formula One in schools competition that is a global event with over 40 countries taking part.     Students have to design and manufacture a miniature Formula One styled car using CAD/CAM and engineering skills.

Robert and Pat’s Summer Sizzle, Sunday, August 19th:

Everyone and guests are invited to a BBQ at Robert and Pat’s home on the Seaview Holiday Park, Swalecliffe.      Please arrive at 2.00 pm to eat at 3.00 pm and bring your own drinks.    

Car Parking, Saturday, August 25th:

The next car parking is on Saturday, August 25th which will be busy just when numbers are bound to be depleted during the holiday season so please sign up to help even if you can only spare an hour or so.

Greta Trip, Wednesday, August 29th:

There are two places available on the Greta Trip sailing from Whitstable Harbour at 11.00 am on Wednesday, August 29th.     Please contact Ron on 07848689576 if you would like to join the trip.

Club Charity Golf Day, Friday, September 7th:

            Everything is going well but Nick still needs some more good raffle prizes.

District Conference, Gala Dinner, Saturday, September 8th:

The dinner will be held at Eliot College, University of Kent on the evening of September 8th at 7.00 for 7.30 pm.      The Club is organizing a table for at least 8 persons and there is a form in the folder so please sign up.

Armistice Dinner, Thursday, November 8th:

The Club will be holding an evening Armistice Dinner at the Golf Club to commemorate the centenary of the end of WWI on Thursday, November 8th at 7.00 for 7.30. The cost will be £25 per person for a three-course dinner with a WWI menu of vegetable soup, beef and gammon carvery followed by bread and butter pudding.    There will be a vegetarian option of stuffed peppers with tomato and basil sauce.      Guests are very welcome but as the maximum capacity of the Golf Club for dinner is 50 please sign up soon on the form in the folder. The dress code will be black tie or lounge suit.

Raffle:

Robert M. won a box of chocolates and Dave some tomatoes.

Master of Alms:

Nick was at it again.

Dave brought greetings from RC Broadstairs which he cheered up recently on his ukulele.
