.

Background: Keith has been Chairman for 3 years, a member of this group for 5 years and a resident in Balerno for 19 years. A retired Fire Fighter.
The objective of the trust is to work towards a sustainable and flourishing community.
A partnership has been fostered between BVT, Rotary with cash injection from Cala which has enabled the Community Chest to sponsor various causes.
The specific activities Keith highlighted that BVT have been involved with are:
Harlaw Hydro which is exceeding generating and financial expectations.
Balerno Music Festival now established as an annual autumn event with a reputation of high standards.
Balerno Farmers Market which has been running for many years on a monthly basis to enable sale of local produce and as a local meeting place. From this event  annual Tattie and Apple days are held.
Balerno Scarecrow. Trail held annually, several slides were shown of scarecrows throughout the village.
Friends of the Main Street developing a cottage garden theme.
Bee Hive Activity: Second hand hives have been obtained and will be repopulated following a harsh winter hopefully with three vibrant colonies. The plan is to go into production.
Maleny Garden Produce: The National Trust have given a peppercorn lease and local volunteers now grow produce for the Farmers Market.
Balerno Photo: A competition run on a bi annual basis.
Community Chest, as highlighted above money is now available for local projects.
Balerno Playpark Improvement Project (BPIP)  It is hoped a play park can be established.
Ravelrig Walled Garden: It has been the intention to establish allotments in this area but currently on the back burner.
3G all weather pitch to enable additional sports activities.
Future Plans: It is hoped the Harlaw Visitor’s Centre can be further developed.
Questions were then asked about:
Spreading knowledge of BVT activities.
The photography competition (for both Adults and Children), perhaps a joint Young Photographer with Rotary.
The  Walled Garden raised a question and legal details were discussed. As stated it is on the back burner at present.

Andy Howard gave the Clubs Vote of Thanks highlighting the hugh number and variety of projects and activities done by the Balerno Village Trust
