Many of you will know Charles Forgan as the Chief Executive of Bradford Breakthrough's Business Leadership Team between 1990 and 2000. Our members Jack Smith and Brian Burton were successively his Chairmen. Whilst his wife Sophie continued her job as a Lecturer at Teesside University, Charles commuted weekly to Bradford and his cottage in Apperley Bridge, and knew and loved our City well. Before that he was 10 years in the London advertising world, and later ran a garment making factory in Middlesbrough for Courtaulds.
But he is not going to talk about Bradford. If we allowed him he would never stop! When he retired Sophie had just become Chairman of Trustees at the Captain Cook Memorial Museum in Whitby. The Press Gang got him and he has been a volunteer member of the museum's Management Committee ever since, dealing mainly with the business side of the Museum.
Charles is going to talk to us about Captain James Cook and Whitby's Captain Cook Memorial Museum'.
