Rotary District 1090 Conference Cheltenham 2018

This year the coference which took place from the 23rd to the 25th of March was held in a new venue, Cheltenham Race Course. It was extremely large and tended to indicate that the number attending fell a little short of what had been hoped for.

The entertainment was started with a visit to the races on the Friday evening, though most, if not all, the members attending from Jordans & District Rotary Club preferred to stay inside where the atmosphere was very convival.

The speakers were Dominic Grieve on the 'Role of the Community in Todays fast chnging World'. John Miles of Global Sight Solutions on a project to establish specialist eye surgery hospitals in India and Africa to provide free eye care. Barbara Winton (Daughter of Nicholas Winton) He unfortunately died recently aged 106 years. A long time Rotarian he is remembered for organizing the Czech & Slovak Kindertransport to rescue children from the Nazi.

On Saturday night a 'Back to the Future' theme was employed for the Gala Dinner followed by dancing to Bye Bye Baby.
