Scott began by giving some background information of Rotary’s principal office bearers for 2018-2019. The Rotary International President is Barry Rassin from the Bahamas whose chosen theme is “Be the Inspiration”. Debbie Hodge is the president for Britain and Ireland, from Ware and her message is that Rotary is about being and doing and wanting to serve our community, care about people and make a difference. Ian Dow, from Aberdeen is the District Governor and his message is  that  “ life has no remote, get up and change it yourself “

Scott then outlined the core activities, commitments and targets for the coming Rotary year of our two main committee - Home and Away. Away commitments includes contributions to End Polio Now, Water Aid , Shelter Box, Shoe boxes and the” Shoe that grows.” Home includes a variety of youth activities e.g. Primary School Quiz, Young Chef, Kids’ Out Day, Technology Tournament and Young Photographer as well as Care Home entertainment, Mock Interviews for all S5 pupils and a new project M.A.C. – a moving and cooking programme for young people.

Scott concluded by detailing the fund raising activities to be undertaken to finance these projects and ideas for our fun and fellowship events.

Cath Chorley, past District Governor, responded on behalf of District. She congratulated Scott for his comprehensive presentation and the Club for having a full team in place and for how well the club is doing. She was particularly impressed by the extensive youth programme, the Mock Interviews, the terrific idea of the new M.A.C. programme and the  “fantastic sums” raised to carry through these projects. The programme showed how everyone was willing to be involved in the many projects and activities undertaken and wished the club well for the coming year.
