PARK RUN

Member Ian Wesson spoke to the Club on 30 January 2018 about this popular activity.

Member Ian Wesson was our speaker on 30 January 2018 and took as his topic Park Run.

The pictures show Ian being led home by his grand-daughter and then two of Ian making the finish line in the Lloyd Park Run.

These free timed 5-kilometer runs take place on a weekly basis. The first run took place in Bushy Park on Saturday 2 October 2004 at 09:00 when Paul Stinton-Hewitt persuaded 13 runners to take part in a 5-kilometer time trial.

Since then further Park Runs have been created so now there are 1,300 across 19 countries. Last year the total global registration passed four million and one million performances were recorded in a single month. Paul has been awarded a CBE for his work.

If you wish to try out a free 5-kilometer time trial in Lloyd Park, why not join Ian.
