Rotary Youth Speaks 2018

Clitheroe held our local heats for the Youth Speaks competition which was held at the United Reformed Church, Clitheroe (Wed 17th Jan)
Teams from St Augustine's RC High School (senior section)
and Stonyhurst College (intermediate section) will represent us at the Lancashire & Cumbria finals in Windermere 3rd February.
Clitheroe Speakers Club kindly provided the adjudicators and we were entertained by some very able young students. The winners of the Intermediate section were Stonyhurst College. Speaker, Adrienne Meagher, gave a thought provoking speech around the subject of 'Magic', which included references to Harry Potter and Santa! Chairperson - Madelaine Frank and Proposer - Tristan Alford.
Runners up were St. Augustine's RC High School. A very thought provoking speech, entitled 'Food Wastage' was given by Speaker - Abigail Walls, supported by Chairperson - Eloise Bradley and Proposer - Louise Lloyd.
In the Senior section a team from St. Augustine's will go through unchallenged to the District Final. Speaker - Olivia Fearn, made a thought provoking speech entitled 'The Effects of Social Media on Body Image'. Olivia was supported by Chairperson - Harriet Hibble and Proposer - Emily Roberts.
