This was a exceptionally well organised and supported event. 62 Rotarians, partners, and friends filled the MOTTS coach and 30 minutes after leaving Adams Park we were getting off the coach outside the Harte and Garter Hotel. Many of us had forgotten what we had ordered, and so the 'reminder' list was most appreciated! The Theatre Royal Windsor is only about 5 minutes down the road from the hotel, and we got there well in time to sit and relax in one of the theatre bars before they lets us take our seats in the Royal Stalls.
The Theatre Royal is a relatively small theatre located just outside the walls of Windsor Castle. So our party of 62 certainly swelled the audience, but even so it was a well attended performance for a Tuesday night. The first half was telling the story about Elvis after he stopped making films. It was the story about his 'comeback', his appearance on the Ed Sullivan show and how his manager (the colonel) then set him up with a season at Vegas.
The second half was his Vegas show, All the old Elvis numbers - and a few 'covers'. But what impressed everyone (apart from the actor's superb singing ability) was the amount of energy he put into his performance - it left us all totally exhausted and ready to sink back into our seats on the coach that was waiting for us outside the theatre.
Thanks go to David Buller for organising the event.
