Our Annual Frugal Lunch

Wed 10th January 2018 at 12.00 - 14.30

Each January we have a Frugal Lunch to remind us of those people less fortunate than us.

Our Annual Frugal Lunch held this year at the home of President Elect Nigel McCulloch was, as usual, a great success consisting of a small mug of soup and a piece of bread. This reminds us that many people still rely on simple, occasionally hand-out foods, from a food bank which, in this day and age in this country is outrageous akin to, and this is not intended to be derogatory, living in a 3rd world country. Club members try to avoid political discussion and argument but this is one facet of life in Britain today that we find utterly disgusting and disgraceful which is why we work tirelessly raising money in support of mostly local charities. For instance, if you look elswhere on this website you will find information about children of a local Prtimary School, that we support, who collect food for the food bank in Barrow-in-Furness.

These are this writer's personal views rather than official club policy, but I know that I am not alone.
