ROTARY CLUB OF ST IVES FUNDED DEFIBRILLATOR DEPLOYED TO SAVE LIFE OF 8 YEAR OLD GIRL

The Public Access Defibrillator is one of 2 units funded by The Rotary Club of St. Ives and installed outside The Lifeboat Inn on The Wharf and at the Travel Office at St. Ives Railway Station

 

During the afternoon of November 1st an 8 year old holiday maker was having a meal when she suffered a Cardiac arrest after an underlying condition brought on respiratory difficulties.

Luckily, on off duty nurse was also eating in the Restaurant and helped the family while staff called 999 and retrieved the PAD to administer the lifesaving treatment.

Para medics and community police were soon on the scene and when the youngster was stable enough, she was airlifted, by Air Ambulance to Treliske Hospital
