On the 1st December Rotakids sold books and toys at the Christmas Fair. They also gave an opportunity to those who attended a chance to win a Christmas cake by guessing its weight. All books and toys that were not sold at the Christmas Fair were gratefully received by the Barnardos Charity shop in Rhiwbina.
The Rotakids had lots of fun planning the event and managed to raise a staggering £120 in three hours. They decided in consultation with the PTA that the money raised would be used to purchase 3 boxes of purple crocus lapel pins. These will be sold outside school after the Christmas holidays with the aim of raising the awareness of the Purple 4 Polio campaign.
The Rotakids know that ‘The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation’ will match an amount raised by 2:1 and are determined to raise £300 from the sale of the crocus lapel pins, thus contributing to a £900 target, which will help immunise children and free the world of this crippling disease.
