Little Common Christmas Tree Lighting and Carol Concert

Sunday, 3rd December 2017

The Rotary Club of Senlac joined with the Little Common Community Association to organise the lighting of the Christmas tree on the Wheatsheaf roundabout and a carol concert in the Little Common Community Centre on Sunday, 3rd December. Father Christmas, to the accompaniment of the Hooe Village Band, turned on the lights to the delight of the local children and visitors. The ceremony was followed by a carol concert service in the community centre, where a packed audience joined in carols to music played by the Hooe Band and listened to carols from the children of Little Common Primary School. The service was conducted by representatives from the 3 Churches in the Community, Rev Jonathon Frais of St Marks, Rev Tricia Williams of Little Common Methodist and Bela Oganovsky from St Martha’s Catholic Church. After the service the community association laid on soup and light snacks in the kitchen. Rotarian Stuart Earl, who took the lead in organising the event after the Little Common Business Association withdrew from the event, said, “It was lovely to see so many people attending the event. It has been very much a joint venture with local communities saving the day and I hope that we can get volunteers to help in future years and perhaps restore the Christmas street lighting again.”
