2017 Youth Speaks Competition

Held at Royal Russell School on 16 November

Six Rotary Clubs in Area 6 of Rotary International District 1145 (Addiscombe & Shirley, Coulsdon Manor, Croydon, Croydon Jubilee, Croydon Whitgift and Sanderstead & Selsdon) joined together to organise a public speaking competition - Youth Speaks - for the secondary schools of Croydon.

Six schools participated in two competitions – Intermediate for younger pupils and Senior for the older ones. All pupils who took part received a Certificate from The Mayor of Croydon, Cllr. Toni Letts, to recognise their involvement.

The winning teams, Royal Russell School in the Intermediate section and Old Palace of John Whigift School in the Senior section, were presented with the winner's shield plus an individual prize by the Mayor.

The two teams now go through to the next stage of the competition to represent Croydon. We wish them both well.

Many Rotarians from the Croydon area clubs attended the evening and enjoyed the occasion. This is one of the activities organised on an annual basis by Rotary Clubs for young people.
