Membership Initiatives - Duncan Collinson

Duncan gave us a very interesting and thought provoking talk on the subject of MEMBERSHIP INITIATIVES. Although we had already done a “Club Health Check” some time ago he suggested that we could find it beneficial to carry out another, highlighting some of the things that could come out of it.

He talked about the very important and responsible part that the Club Council played in developing and ensuring a “happy club” and ensuring the importance of public image as a route to recruitment. He urged us also to think about developing Social Media as another route to public awareness, particularly as it would reach a largely different demographic group.

Following on from this he highlighted other ways that we could consider in order to attract new members, namely:

PROJECT MEMBERSHIP: Where people were interested in joining to be involved in our various projects, but could not attend our regular meetings.

SATELLITE CLUBS:    Setting up a satellite club which could well be largely of a different demographic group; after all we all started as satellite clubs at one time!

ASSOCIATE MEMBERSHIP.

CORPORATE MEMBERSHIP: With organisations where we could find mutually beneficial areas if interest or assistance.

After his very interesting and entertaining talk he answered quite a few questions from the members before David Cormack accorded the Clubs thanks, feeling sure that we would be discussing the various avenues which he introduced us to.
