Ascot Race Night

Mon, Apr 23rd 2018 at 7:15 pm - 9:30 pm

Ascot Race Night at Howley Golf Club.
2 Races - meal then 2 more races.
In Aid of LILY Foundation.

Rotary Club of Birstall Luddites
Race Night in aid of the Lily Foundation.
Mon 23 April the club ran a Race Night combining a weekly club night with a Race Night.
President Helen gave a few words speaking of her sons John and Eddy about the Lily Foundation.
President Helen themed the evening as an Ascot Race meeting encouraging members and friends to dress up as going to Ascot Ladies day meeting
Howley Golf Club is not exactly Ascot (tickets £59 to £159) but the evening was a great success.  Our brilliant team of Master of Ceremonies Ian, Keith showing the races assisted  by Jill dressed as a jockey and Joanna.
There were 4 races and a sponsored race, a supper of baguette and cuts of ham turkey and beef joints. A raffle and telephone call together with all the spare horses being sold raised £1200 for the Lily Foundation.
Rotarian John Sugden became a focus being dressed in top hat and tails (well done John) ladies paying  £1 to have their picture taken with him. A prize was awarded for best dressed lady and man adding to the fun.
Big thanks to Jill for printing the programmes Rotarian Mike for his help, Jeremy's help with the golf club and of course Ian and Keith's organisation.
Not forgetting President Helen for her idea of the event and her persistence in selling 94 tickets and thanks to club members and friends for their support.
