Club members discuss ongoing projects

Members held a Business Meeting last Thursday at which they reviewed the success of recent fundraising projects and confirmed details of those still to come.

International Committee Convenor Linden Warburton reported that her Microfinancing Group had loaned £200 to a street vendor in Ecuador to enable him to buy cooking pots and ingredients to expand his business. Of seven schemes which had been invested in by the Group, three had been completely repaid.

Foundation Convenor Gus Neilson described the arrangements for the Annual Charity Quiz in the Catholic Church Halls at 7 for 7.30 on Friday 16thFebruary. An open invitation is extended to families, friends, clubs and groups to send a team of up to four people to take part. Funds can only be raised by there being a large number of teams present!!

Best wishes were extended to local Rotarian Ron Sutherland who, with his wife Pat, is currently taking part in Selkirk Rotary Club's Philippines Project where they are working to refurbish an orphanage and to improve toilet blocks at a school in Naga City. Rotary providing practical help!

It was confirmed that signage has been ordered to identify Hawick Rotary's role in planting purple crocuses on Galalaw Roundabout and on a grassy bank at Heronhill. With the catchphrase Purple 4 Polio, these are the symbol of Rotary International's worldwide project to End Polio Now.
