Scots Night

Our annual Scots Night celebration, with visiting entertainers

Last week's Rotary meeting saw members and their guests attend for their annual Burns / Scots Night. An excellent evening was enjoyed by all with a varied menu (which of course had to include a haggis, neeps and tatties option) being followed by a programme of entertainment coordinated by Ron Laidlaw. Ron, who made a short toast to the Immortal Memory of Robert Burns, kept the evening moving with songs from Joyce Tinlin and Geoff Ross, and with Tam o' Shanter recited by Michael Aitken. Ron Smith tested the company on their knowledge of Burns in a quiz jointly won (19 out of a possible 20!) by the entertainers' table and by a Rotarians table of Bobby and Ina Cairns, Billy McWatters and Jim Walker.

Opportunity was taken to welcome Ron & Pat Sutherland back from Florida where they had been attending the wedding of former Rotary Global Exchange Scholar Kevin Guthrie and to wish Past President Robin Mason and his wife Margaret well as they move away from Hawick.
