What we do

Hove Rotary Club raises funds in support of a wide range of charitable organisations and actively participates in some of their events and programmes.

We help the Young

The Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) Scheme is one of the most successful Rotary programmes run by Rotary clubs around the world.  The fun and intensive training programme for 15 to 17 year olds offers the leaders of the future a chance to get a head start at an early age.

We run Mock Interview practice sessions with local sixth-formers in preparation for their applications to universities or other further education institutions.

Through Youth Speaks, Rotary encourages public speaking and presentation skills in young people from our local schools and our competitions showcase some superb quality speakers aged from 11 to 18.

We support the community

in a number of other ways, such as;

Christmas Collection at various locations in Hove (and Brighton)

Various Local Events

Donations to local causes that are brought to our attention

Our involvement with a Housing Trust (Rotary Club of Hove Housing Association) providing affordable accommodation for older persons of limited means

We work with other local Rotary Clubs

There are a number of Rotary Clubs in the Brighton & Hove area, each with its own character and offering a range of meeting times and club activities.  Via 'Rotary in Brighton & Hove' all the clubs regularly share information about their activities and undertake a number of joint initiatives whilst retaining their own identities and club traditions.

We raise funds to support Charities both at home and abroad

We hold a number of fund raising events every year to support local and international charities.  Some local causes are mentioned above, while international charities include Rotary Foundation, Used spectacles and foreign coin collection, Polio Plus, Shelter Boxes, Sightsavers, Book Aid and Tool Aid.

We organise a variety of activities and lunchtime talks for our members

Our Tuesday lunches are frequently followed by a brief talk.  These are often presentations by representatives of local charities or talks on general interest topics by our own members or outside speakers..

We organise various social activities for our members.  Some recent activities:

  • Visit to Bolney Wine Centre
  • Visit to Brick Lane Music Hall
  • Bluebell Railway ride + lunch
