Rotary Foundation

Terms of Reference


The mission of The Rotary Foundation is to enable Rotarians to advance world understanding, goodwill and peace through the improvement of health, the support of education, and the alleviation of poverty.

The Rotary Foundation helps fund our humanitarian activities, from local service projects to global initiatives, our club and district can apply for grants from the Foundation to invest in projects and provide scholarships. The Foundation also leads the charge on worldwide Rotary campaigns such as eradicating polio and promoting peace. Rotarians and friends of Rotary support the Foundation's work through voluntary contributions.


Giving

When members contribute to the Rotary Foundation they support Rotary's work across the world and help ensure our future. Members can choose where to direct there donation and how they wish to donate.


The Role and Responsibilities as Convenor of Foundation

The Convenor should have a committee of at least three club members of one to be appointed Deputy. The Convenor has a position on Club Council.

The main purpose of this committee is to ensure all Members meet their obligation to raise $100 for Rotary Internationals own Charity either by donating to weekly raffle e.g. Bottle of wine, Lucky Number or by Sustaining member or by including a donation to Rotary International in their Will.

Stand-alone fund raising event e.g. community bulb planting, bag packing.

Convenor or Deputy to circulate member's sheet for those who have not elected to pay £2.00 per week by Standing Order.

Inform and encourage New Members to participate in donating monthly by standing order to the Clubs Foundation account.

Foundation Convenor must keep weekly records of all participants and monies received. At the end of each month these funds must be given to club treasurer who will forward these funds to Rotary GB&I as per Club Standing Orders.

Foundation Committee can also work with other committees to raise the profile of Rotary Foundation e.g. International where funds can be distributed accordingly.
