International Committee

The aims and objectives of the International Committee

International Committee

Terms of Reference

The purpose of RCSQ International Committee is

  • To motivate and lead fellow Rotarians and involve them in International projects
  • To identify suitable International projects and opportunities
  • To identify other Rotarian clubs to partner with on International projects
  • To encourage fellowship through joint International projects
  • To monitor natural and humanitarian disasters worldwide, to provide information and suggest action (as appropriate} to the club members.

This sets out our Vision and Objectives (i.e. what has to be achieved)

Our Stakeholders are primarily the International Committee and other Rotarians in our Club. The International Committee will have roles and responsibilities appropriate to the projects. To this end, when approached by the President-Elect to be International Chairman, ask if you can choose your team.  A team of 4 members is probably the minimum (i.e. who will take part in it).

To achieve our vision and objectives we will use SARA.

SARA is a mnemonic for a four-step model:

  • S  Scanning   Spotting problems using knowledge and our connections, basic data and research. Approach previous International Chairman to get track record on the previous year and on any longer-term projects. At initial team meeting give heads up on possible projects and targets for the year. Advise team to keep a watch out for International emergencies.
  • A  Analyse   Using hunches and information technology to dig deeper into problems, characteristics and underlying causes.
  • R  Response   Devising a solution, working with the Rotary community at RI, Rotary GB&I and District levels and of course neighbouring clubs wherever possible and, when appropriate, with other agencies e.g. Shelterbox, Hope and Homes, Balcraig Foundation. Project plans will be developed to consider resources, finance (i.e. how it will be achieved) and work schedules (i.e. when it will be achieved). Try and have at least one fund raising event each year.
  • A  Assessment - Looking back to see if the solution worked and what lessons can be learned.
