2017 RYLA Awards

It was great to have this years RYLA candidate, Rory Jones, come back to the Club and tell us about is recent adventures at Grafham Water during this years District 1080 RYLA week

Rory et al.

This is always a great night in our Rotary calander - having inroduced the candidate to the Club back in June, they then go and experience all the different aspects which the RYLA week at Grafham Water provides.

The candidates come back in October to give their sponsoring club some feedback and recieve their Award.

2017 was no exception and did not disappoint - Rory Jones, a third year apprentice at Shearline Precision Engineering in Ely was our chosen 2017 candidate.

We met Rory at a Club meeting in June and again at the Open Day at Grafham Water - at this weeks meeting we heard Rory share anicdotes and display a humourous deliver of his week that reflected a far more confident and rounded young man than we had seen in June.

Club members were very impressed with his feedback and this was suplemented by input from our District RYLA organiser, Robin Wraight, who also was a guest of the Club for the evening.

President Bill presented Rory with his Award certificates having completed the course and Neil Marshall, the Production Manager at Shearline aslo joined the meeting to share in Rory's achievement.

Iain Sutherland who coordinates RYLA activities for the Club thanked all parties for their support this year and also Club members for getting behind the project both in fund raising and endorsing ongoing interest in future candidates.
