Paul Tomlinson was MC at our latest Club Awareness event which we held last night at County Hotel Selkirk. He gave a very warm welcome to our 21 guests who heard all about a few of the projects that the club are involved in both locally and internationally. Jim McPherson, Imogen Hoppe, and Paula Clark spoke from a leaders, students, and parents perspective about the recent Vine Trust trip to Tanzania. Club member Doug Forsyth also gave an insight into the clubs forthcoming charity trip to the Philippines, which is being led by our President, Ferdous Ahmed. We are very grateful to Will and Trond at 'The County' whose generosity made the event special.
Keep an eye out for our follow up posts showing a number of donations which the club made to local causes.

Ruth Ross explained all about the 12 music stands and Ukuleles which the club has assisted Knowepark School in purchasing. We look forward to meeting some of the young Ukulele players when they progress through to our Young Musician competition in the years to come.
Youth development remains a key focus for our club.
Ruth is seen here accepting our cheque from President Ferdous Ahmed, together with a couple of photos when Ferdous visited the children at the school.

Our Club Awareness guests heard about the fundraising plans the club is currently involved in to provide mattresses for the Queen of Peace Orphanage in Naga City, Philippines and outside toilet refurbishments for a school in the same area during the club's trip to the area in February next year. To assist in our efforts, President Ferdous gratefully received a cheque from John Purves who took a collection from guests at his recent birthday celebrations and has donated the proceeds to our project. We are indebted to John and his party guests.

Junior members of Selkirk Cricket Club, accompanied by their junior coach Stewart Skeldon, were among the guests at our Club Awareness night last night. Stewart accepted a cheque from the club to assist with their junior section, and we wish them all well in their work with our local youngsters.
