Duke University students visit Durham Town Hall

Wed, Jul 26th 2017 at 12:30 pm - 1:30 pm

Club members met with visitors from Durham North Carolina.

Members of the visiting group this October to the Rotary Club of North Carolina, President Elect Tony and his wife Brenda and Judith along with Eddy Marchant and Jim from previous visits, met students and staff from Duke University at the Town Hall Durham on Wednesday 26 July in the presence of the Mayor and Mayoress and the Council's International Officer Brian Stobie.

The students are here from 8 July to 5 August as part of the DukeEngage-Durham initiative to undertake a 10 week period of volunteering in placements where they are working with people at risk of exclusion from the labour market. It was very interesting to learn about their work with local community agencies while in Durham and for us to tell them about the work of the Rotary Club of Durham and the connection with the Rotary Club of Durham North Carolina and Sister Cities.

This is an annual visit to Durham University. More information on this year's DukeEngage-Durham visit can be found on their blog at:
