FOUNDATION
CONVENOR: Maurice Halliday VICE CONVENOR [PEACE]: Jean Best
Peace advocates from KBT Academy to two Conferences - the DofE Conference in Edinburgh in November and the RI Conference in Coventry in February. *
Development of School Peace Programme.
Club members education.
Seeking to enhance the existing number of club members donating $100 per year.
Give talks to Primary Schools about Rotary/Polio.
Musical Concert involving all schools in our area.
Foundation Charity golf day.
Monitor payments to the world fund and to Polio. Plus the addition of gift aid.
Understanding what other sections of the club are doing.
MEMBERSHIP
CONVENOR: James Dunlop VICE CONVENOR: Anne Shackleton [INVOLVEMENT]
Provide a planned programme of well advertised Club Activities to promote fellowship and fun.
RETENTION [MENTORING]: John Locke
Ensure that all new members are given a mentor.
Provide every mentor with a copy of our mentoring guidelines.
Oversee the delivery of the mentoring programme for every new member.
RECRUITMENT: Colin MacLaine
Set up an information evening and identify other opportunities for recruitment.
COMMUNITY AND VOCATIONAL
CONVENOR: Linda Simpson VICE CONVENOR Mike Moore
Establish and maintain links with, and support, other community organisations.
Provide help at the KBT Half Marathon, Buckland Burn and Jazz Festival.
Drive the minibus for the Wednesday club, Friendship Group, Heart for Art project, and summer. outings for residents of Merse House and for the Country Fair, and around the Arts & Crafts Trail.
Assisting with Books on Wheels, a library service for those unable to to visit the Library.
Alongside other Stewartry Rotary Clubs, help to organise KidsOut, a fun day for disadvantaged young people.
Maintain the three Town Planters.
Collect mini toiletries to donate to Womens' Aid.
Investigate further support for provision of a Skateboard Park.
Investigate giving support the Barrhill Woods project.
Investigate the possibility of Club involvement in the Rotary GB&I "Plant a tree" project.
Carry out an audit of the tree species in the Soaperie Gardens and produce a "Tree Trail" leaflet for visitors and interested local people.
Investigate setting up one or more beach litter picks.
INTERNATIONAL
CONVENOR: Micky Ball VICE CONVENOR: Paul Campbell
Support 'Sight Aid International' providing eye care for children in Malawi.
Support NumberSense student support and teacher training programme in South Africa.
Support a scholarship fund to provide schooling for deserving indigent scholars from deprived backgrounds in South Africa. *
Purchase Shelterboxes x 4.
Purchase Aquaboxes x 3.
Provide Shoe Boxes x 40.
YOUTH
CONVENOR: John Frew VICE CONVENOR: Andy Courtnedge
Work with Kirkcudbright Academy and its five partner primary schools, namely Kirkcudbright, Gatehouse, Twynholm, Auchencairn and Borgue Primary Schools.
Continue to organise and support a programme of enrichment projects and activities which support the school curriculum and help to meet the needs of young people in these schools.*
Provide opportunities for young people, particularly disadvantaged young people, that they might otherwise not access.
Encourage Club members to actively support these activities.
PUBLIC RELATIONS AND COMMUNICATION
CONVENOR: Tony Wood
Maintain a high level of PR and Media coverage for the Club.
Help to improve communication both internally and externally.
Actively encourage Club members to use our Website.
To listen and take advice from Club members as to how they would like to receive information.
Promote Rotary within the community by publicising both our international and local community activities and projects.
OTHER
Investigate the potential for a town Homecoming event for 2019.
Investigate additional opportunities for collaborative activity with
- other Stewartry Rotary Clubs
- Inner Wheel
- Gamlebyen Rotary Club (Fredrikstad, Norway)
