The Rotary Foundation
The Rotary Foundation - Rotary's own charity
The mission of The Rotary Foundation is to enable Rotarians to advance world understanding, goodwill and peace through the improvement of health, the support of education and the alleviation of poverty.
The Foundation is a not-for-profit corporation and is supported solely by voluntary contributions from Rotarians and friends of the Foundation and generous donations from the public who share it's vision of a better world.
2017 sees the Rotary Foundation celebrating it's centennial of doing good in the world.
The fight to end polio is led by the Global Polio Eradication Initiative which includes Rotary International, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, World Health Organisation, UNICEF, U.S. Centre for Disease Control and Prevention and governments of the world with support of many others worldwide.
As long as Polio threatens even one child anywhere in the world, children everywhere remain at risk.
Accrington Rotary support The Rotary Foundation and also the End Polio Now campaign through the Purple4Polio initiative. This involves raising funds and amongst other things the planting of purple crocus bulbs around the area to show support for and raise awareness of the campaign.
