On Thursday 8th February 2018, the Rotary Club of South Queensferry held a business meeting at the Hawes Inn. President Neil presided over the meeting. Graham Clarkson reported that there are now 206 registrations for the abseil, a substantial increase to the same time last year. As a follow up to the talk on Malawi last week, it was decided to support a women's tomato farming group in Malawi in the Lend With Care Scheme. A few years ago, members 'lent' money to this very worthwhile scheme. The idea is that people in developing countries who need money to increase their small businesses, may borrow from this scheme and pay the loan back over an agreed amount of time. As member Gerald Smith, the driving force behind its introduction to our club, says: 'It's a hand up - not a hand-out'.
