WREXHAM CONWY AND DENBIGHSHIRE YOUNG CARERS PROJECT

Young carers from the Wrexham, Conwy and Denbighshire Young Carers Group recently enjoyed a weekend away at the Blist’s Hill Victorian Town Museum in Ironbridge Gorge, Shropshire. The visit took place over the weekend 13th – 14th May and was funded by the Denbigh Rotary Club with the assistance of a matched Rotary District Grant.

The Young Carers Group includes children of both primary and secondary school age groups from the Denbigh area who have the responsibility of caring for sick or elderly relatives and, due to their care responsibilities, many of these children never have the opportunity of a holiday or even a day out.

The children visited the Blists Hill Victorian Town, partaking in various activities and stayed in the local youth hostel overnight. On the way home the children also called at the Brenig Visitor Centre and the weekend was thoroughly enjoyed by all those who participated.

The members of Denbigh Rotary Club are very pleased to have been able to support such a worthwhile cause.
