Helen McGregor, Regional Fundraising Manager at Scotland’s Charity Air Ambulance (SCAA) was the speaker at the St Andrews Rotary lunch. Helen shared with the members the vital work carried out by Scotland’s only charity funded air ambulance. She explained that this national service which is operational 12 hours a day, 365 days a year, provides a lifeline particularly to remote and rural areas across Scotland by flying expert paramedic care to the scene of time critical emergencies, taking patients onwards to hospital. At the moment the Charity has one helicopter available, but Helen was pleased to share details with the Rotarians about SCCA’s plans to fundraise for a second helicopter.
It was very gratifying to hear that to date Rotary Clubs in Scotland have raised over £100,000 for this most worthwhile Scottish Charity. SCCA’s website is well worth a look for more information. wwwscaa.org uk.
The vote of thanks was given by Rotary member Dennis Hopper who thanked Helen for her excellent informative and enthusiastic presentation which had resulted in many interesting questions from the group.
