Burns Lunch

Wed 24th January 2018 at 12.30 - 14.00

President Gordon Wowk welcomed members and guests to the annual Burns Lunch and handed over to organiser and M.C. for the day Ian Johnston.
The haggis was piped in by Dennis Hopper and the address to the haggis was given by Bill Whyte who also gave the Selkirk Grace.
Following the meal Ian McKinnon from the Rotary Club of Kilrymont gave an amusing Immortal Memory reminding us of the man Burns and his many skills and charms with up to date references as well as very traditional ones.
Joyce McIver sang the well loved Burns songs Ae Fond Kiss and A Man's a Man for a' That.   In her own clever words Joyce also sang a song she had written to Ian McKinnon in the John Anderson My Jo John style commenting on his golf ability.
Ian Johnson added his witty writtings in the form of To a Curry instead of a haggis bringing in all the popular foods of the day like pizza, chillies and salad etc. as well as comments on the popular football team in the area.
Angela Fowlis again in true Burns style gave the vote of thanks to the talented contributors and the celebration concluded with a hearty Auld Lang Syne
