Alan Blower and Rob Skoulding

THE DEFIBRILLATOR PROJECT On Monday the17th July the Club were given a fascinating talk and demonstration on the Defibrillator Project by former Mayor of March Councillor Rob Skoulding ably assisted by Alan Blower of the St John Ambulance. Introduced by Rtn. Karen Coppin Rob Skoulding prefaced his presentation by thanking the Club on behalf of the Town Council for the work they did in the town much of it behind the scenes and in particular their involvement in the defibrillator project. Rob explained that the project came about resulting from the death of his father Peter Skoulding in 2009 and the probability that he would still be alive today if a defibrillator had been available and that he had embarked on the project in his father’s memory. He started the project in 2015 and 12 defibrillators were installed in the first year. There were now 30 installed in different sites around the town and a map was available showing where each one was sited. His target was to get sufficient units installed in the town so that everyone was within 4 minutes of one. Finally he thanked his team of volunteers including his family for all the assistance he had received in making the project a success. After the presentation Alan Blower from St John Ambulance gave a demonstration on how a defibrillator worked and the procedures involved. After several questions Rob and Alan were thanked on behalf of the Club by Rtn. John Lattimore for a most enlightening talk and demonstration and wished every success with the continuation of the project.
