Club Meeting — No speaker

Tue, May 1st 2018 at 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm

President Gordom Burgess welcomed eleven other members, and Douglas Dow asked for volunteers to help at the annual can collection in aid of local youth projects, to be held at Helensburgh Co-op, Sinclair Street, on Saturday May 12 from 9am-5pm.

Donald Fullarton reported on the very successful Lisbon trip from last Thursday to Sunday enjoyed by a party of eight, who stayed in the quite superb Avenida Palace Hotel in the city centre.

Everyone enjoyed exploring the city and in particular the huge statue of Christ the King at Almada after a ferry trip across the river from Lisbon. Local restaurants served superb fish, and melon and ham was a favourite starter. Travel by Ryanair proved very acceptable, although some items — such as ice! — were out of stock on the return journey.

He expressed the thanks of the party to organisers Derek Hall and Alastair Wilson, and also to Carol Harvey at Stewart Travel who made the arrangements.

The weekly raffle for a whisky miniature was won by Adam Muggoch.
