Rotary club of Stirling meeting of 1st June 2018.
President Stewart Wilson welcomed us to a Fellowship meeting, at which members had an opportunity to raise topics of interest. There was general satisfaction with our recent AM/AM golf match at Stirling golf club. It was clear that the change of date had attracted a much larger number of teams, the weather was splendid, those taking part had expressed their approval, and have said they will come again next year.
We raised almost £3000 net for charity on the day. On a less successful note we were defeated by Inverness/Loch Ness club in the final of the Gavel, but as usual all those taking part enjoyed the competition.
Looking forward, our next event is our stall at Kippen street fair on Saturday the 9th of June, a new activity which, if successful, could become part of our regular programme. SVP Sandy Farquharson raised the topic of the President's Night, and there was a general feeling that, in it's present form, it served little purpose. There was however a strong feeling that it should be replaced by some sort of social evening, and Sandy will propose some possible alternatives for discussion again in the near future.
Next meeting, 8th June Speaker's host Ranald Ross-Watt.
