Young Photographer 2016-17
The winner of the competition at District level in the Junior Category was Emma Rouen, a student at Cartmel Primary School.
However, Emma’s also won at the local level with another picture, which we will try to locate along with those pictures winning in the other categories as soon as we can.The winner of the John Biddlestone Memorial Trophy for the 2016-17 Rotary Year was Mykala Sumner, a student at Cartmel Priory Secondary School. Although Mykala's photo failed to win at District level, it won our local heat in the Intermediate Category and was also selected to win the “John Biddlestone Memorial Trophy” by John's widow Maggie Biddlestone as it "reflected" much of John's appreciation of the countryside.
Mykala is the first winner of this trophy, which was established by the Rotary Club of Grange-over-Sands in John’s name because of his outstanding efforts on behalf of the club recognising and promoting the importance of communication with our young school children.
It will be held for twelve months when it will be awarded again to a local young student in recognition of outstanding achievement in a local competition be that photography or some other discipline.
