Blaize Trailers Walk Idle, Thackley and Esholt

Blaize Trailers Walk Old Idle to Old Thackley then via Canal Towpath to Esholt and return with lunch at the Stansfield Arms


4-5 Miles with Lunch to be taken at The Stansfield Arms (Apperley Bridge) at 1:00pm Address: Apperley Ln, Bradford BD10 0NP Phone: 0113 250 2659

An early uphill stroll takes us quickly into the suburb of Idle, past the Quaker Burial Ground, then down to the oldest part of Thackley, finding our way onto the Canal Towpath, towards Esholt Sewage Works. A number of fine Architectural features en-route. 

We re-cross the canal, climbing up past Thackley Tunnel-head, returning on a little used path to our starting point !

Cross Road (entrance to Idle Recreation Ground), Bradford - BD10 9RU (see Map below) 

Directions: from Fox Corner, Shipley

1) Take the A657 towards Leeds for 2.2 miles , straight on at Thackley Corner, through the Z Bend, passing Immanuel College on your left continuing to Cross Road (on the right after 300 yards)

2) Park on the right near to the gates of Idle Recreation

Take Care: many speed cameras up the hill from Shipley !! 

Directions from Greengates:

3) Take the A657 towards Shipley for 0.9 miles to Cross Road on your Left. Turn left into Cross Road. Park as (2) above
