Some aspects of protection from acts of terrorism.

An excellent, if somewhat scary talk today by Graham Wakeman from the National Counter Terrorism Security Office. Graham explained the origins of Project Griffin which started in London and is now rolling out across the country for businesses, voluntary groups etc…

He began by explaining the levels of threat and pointing out that it is currently ‘severe’.

Threats can come from many different groups from the extreme left, Animal Rights, environmental, anti war across to extreme right wing ; to illustrate the scale of the current threat – there are between 500 and 600 current investigations, and since 2013 13 plots have been thwarted by the security services and police.

Graham moved on to explain about ‘hostile reconnaissance and potential target locations.

Using some effective video clips Graham emphasized that our vigilance is essential in countering these threats by reporting suspicious behavior via the number 0800789321.Finishing with a short video ‘Stay Safe’ Graham took questions and left us all thoroughly convinced and appreciative of the great work our security services and police do in keeping the whole country safe.
