Tonight Rotary in Southern Wales held the District Final of the
Young Interviewer Competition, which was hosted by Howell's School,
Llandaff. The club sponsored three of the competitors, one each from
Whitchurch High School, The Cathedral School and Howell's School.
Our Richard Cunningham was much involved in the arrangements, and acted as time keeper on the night
Lord
Murphy of Torfaen had agreed to be the personality to be interviewed by
each of the six contestants in turn. His theme was "Making Peace",
and drew on his experience of being involved in the creation of the Good
Friday Agreement in Northern Ireland and events since then, The
election in N Ireland, still being counted, ensured its topicality.
The
winner was Morgan Haigh from Whitchurch High School, seen in the
process of interviewing Lord Murphy, and third from the left in the
group photograph. Gabriel Smith, second from the left, from The Cathedral School was runner-up.
