Happy Birthday Rotary

Rotary celebrates its 112 birthday

On February 23rd, Rotary turned 112

This year our birthday or “Rotary Day” is being linked again with Purple4Polio to highlight the work done by Rotarians in support for the Polio immunisation programme.

Some events have already taken place, including in Guernsey where the home of the Sovereign’s representative, His Excellency the Lieutenant-Governor Vice Admiral Sir Ian Corder and Lady Corder turned purple to highlight the annual Purple Pinkie Day held around Rotary Day every year to raise awareness and funds for Rotary End Polio Now.

In Brigg, we sang happy birthday and President Ambrose had a small cake presented to him with one candle on it. He duly lit it and we sang happy birthday. Unfortunately, before a photograph of the occasion could be taken he ate most of the cake!

Hence the candle was put into a pot of crocuses!
