Maryam Takes a Step up the Leadership Ladder!

Princes Risborough School Interactor becomes the first recipient of an ILM endorsed certificate in Rotary Youth Leadership and Management

Maryam ILM Certificate

The first Certificate for successful completion of the 'Rotary Youth Leadership & Management Programme' was presented by District Governor Joy Arnott on 24 February 2017.

The recipient was Maryam Ahmad, a member of the Princes Risborough School Interact Club, who successfully completed the programme some weeks ago.

The Rotary Programme, which is endorsed by the Institute of Leadership & Management, requires the Interact or Rotaract member to plan, implement and review a project which has to fully documented.

Participants are provided with a tutor who leads them through the main elements of leadership and project management. Access to the Institute of Leadership and Management Resources Centre is also provided.

The award is being piloted within Rotary's Thames Valley District and will be available nationally over the coming months.

Maryam’s project involved planning and marketing a lunchtime school fair with stalls providing food, henna stencils and hand printing to raise money for Syrian Orphans.

With help from fellow Princes Risborough Interact Members, Maryam raised £500 with her project. Her presentation included a video of the event.

Rotarian tutor Sue Pomeroy said, ‘Maryam has done really well and now has something unique on her CV and has attained the first step of the Institute of Leadership & Management ladder; hopefully she will be the first of many over the coming years.’ Sue thanked the Rotary Club of Princes Risborough and Princes Risborough School Interact Club for leading the way with their support for Maryam.

Congratulations to Maryam!
