Including new member induction and confirmation of Honorary Members

The Club’s AGM and Assembly took place on Wednesday, 17thMay 2017 at the Cooden Beach Hotel.  Guests were Assistant District Governor, Chris Brenchley, Barbara Thomas and her husband, Bexhill Rotarian Anthony Thomas, and prospective Rotarian Jamie Faulkner and his wife, Emma.

The meeting included reports from the outgoing committee Chairs and the aspirations for the coming year by the incoming Chairs. As is normal at these meetings the Club’s Honorary Members are reconfirmed, Mike Stewart and Wendy Wood who have been and are still closely involved with the work of the Yellowmen, both in the UK and Kenya, were both reconfirmed.

Barbara Thomas has also been very much involved with the Yellowmen. Roger Young read out a message from Yellowmen co-ordinator, Eddie McCall, in which he said that Barbara is an indispensable member of the Yellowmen who not only joined every trip to Kenya but has raised considerable sums of money from organising coffee mornings and running marathons. She is an invaluable member of the team, an excellent role model for the girls and is highly respected by the Pokot people. For the service and dedication Barbara has given to the Yellowmen the Club was proud to confirm Barbara as an Honorary Rotarian. Barbara replied that she was delighted and said, “I am so pleased and I want to play a very active role in the activities the Club undertakes.”

Congratulations, Barbara we are so pleased to welcome you into our organisation and thank you for all you have done with and for the Yellowmen.

The Club were also very pleased to welcome new member Jamie Faulkner. Jamie, accompanied by his wife Emma, was inducted during the evening. There is a separate report elsewhere in the newsletter about Jamie and his induction.
