Some misuses and abuses of the English language ...


Following on from Alan Kingston's Irritations back in March 2010, Eric, who is Proud to be a Pedant, let off some steam!

Modesty forbids me from expressing an opinion on today's talk since I gave it! However, I can say that it didn't last long and seemed to go down well. I covered such exciting issues such as the correct way to say "kilometre", the difference between "less" and "fewer" and, inevitably perhaps, the dreaded apostrophe ('that cursed comma sitting above its station'). I ended the talk with the image below - and the warning that the two must not be confused!
