Our speaker was Gordon Mackinlay. His talk was entitled “The
Keyhole to Children’ Surgery”. Gordon is a Consultant Paediatric Surgeon and a
past President of British Association of Paediatric Surgeons. Gordon gave a very
interesting and vivid presentation using slides and videos to show how Keyhole
Surgery on children had developed since the late 1980’s. He also highlighted the
many advantages of Keyhole Surgery compared with Open Surgery. These
included less pain, tiny wounds, fewer infections, less adhesions and a shorter hospital stay.
