Weekly meeting with guest speaker

The Rotary Club held a pleasant evening last week at Mansfield House Hotel when the evening's speaker Alan McCredie was introduced and gave an excellent illustrated talk on the Rugby Memories Club held at Mansfield Park Rugby Clubrooms for people who suffer from memory problems and is supported by Alzheimer Scotland.  The club has been running for 4 years and meets monthly when old newsreels and photos are shown which recalls old memories.  A guest speaker is also involved as well as a quiz to invigorate the brain cells. He showed a video of Langholm Sports in 1982 which Hawick won defeating Melrose 24-10 in the final, and a further tape of Hawick beating Orrell in the final at Selkirk..  Gus Neilson gave the vote of thanks.

Last week's quiz was a success and raised £402.14 which will finance a place on the RYLA adventure camp this summer. The winning team was entered by Gus Neilson and was very much a family affair!
