Our Christmas collections raised over £2,000 in 2017

Each year the Wirksworth Rotary Club erects the Christmas Tree in the Market Square, Wirksworth, and organises the lighting-up ceremony which always attracts large numbers of families and children coming to meet Santa, sing carols and generally get into the Christmas spirit.

Our Santa Sleigh proves ever popular each year, taking to the streets of Wirksworth and surrounding villages in the run-up to Christmas, giving local children the chance to see Santa and helping to raise funds for the various good causes and local charities which the club supports.

In 2017 our collections raised over £2,000, which was a great achievement in spite of the bad weather which caused a number of cancellations and changes to our plans. We would like to thank everyone for their kind donations, all those within the club and their friends and families who helped, and also the managers and staff at Sainsbury's in Matlock and the Co-op store in Wirksworth for their support and hospitality.
