Speaker: Danielle Treharne (Hon Member RCCB)

The club sponsored Danielle Treharne as an Ambassadorial Scholar in 2006-7, so that she could spend the third year of her Oxford undergraduate course at Lyon University studying French and Italian Literature.

She then worked in management consultancy for a few years before moving to work in West Africa, on projects sponsored by the Department of International Development.  She has just returned to the UK having been Uganda Country Manager for BIMA, a company that promotes the use of mobile phone technology to carry out financial transactions, such as insurance, in developing countries where there is no fixed infrastructure. Danielle explained how Rotary helped develop the skills needed for this work and how Rotary values have guided her career.
